私のかねてよりの念願でありました生化学に関する基礎研究を目的とした財団法人応用生化学研究所（基本金２億円）が、昭和６３年５月、文部省の許可を得て発足いたしました。

　この法人は、最近とみに関心の高い老化の防止や成人病、遺伝病の治療等に貢献するために生化学に関する応用及び基礎研究を主たる事業とするほか、研究者の養成、援助を行うとともに、これらの事業を通じて国際交流をはかり、福祉の増進に寄与しようとするものであります。

　設立後２年余りを経過し、研究体制の充実等につとめその成果を収めつつありますが、さらに公益事業の遂行のため確固たる基盤整備をはかり恒久的発展を期して参りたいと存じますので、皆様のご理解とご支援をお願いいたします。

My long-cherished wish to establish the Applied Biochemistry Research Institute Foundation (with a capital of 200 million yen) for the purpose of basic research in biochemistry was realized in May 1988, with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

　This foundation aims to contribute to the prevention of aging and treatment of adult diseases and genetic diseases, which have recently attracted much attention, by conducting applied and basic research in biochemistry as its main business, as well as training and supporting researchers, and promoting international exchange through these activities to contribute to the advancement of welfare.

　More than two years have passed since the establishment, and we are making efforts to strengthen the research system and achieve results. However, we would like to build a solid foundation for the implementation of public service activities and aim for permanent development, so we ask for your understanding and support.
